2019 Festival “Navajo Math Circles” and Other MSRI Films

Saturday May 4, 2019 from 2:00pm - 2:25pm ET

Join MSRI host Dr. Hélène Barcelo as she introduces three film trailers for recent MSRI public math films for public television: “Navajo Math Circles,” tracing the afterschool and summer activities of youth on the reservation, a biopic-in-production on Maryam Mirzakhani, the first woman to win the math equivalent of the Nobel Prize, and “Counting from Infinity,” about a Chinese mathematician whose work on the twin primes conjecture offers rare insights into the solitary and collaborative creative process in mathematics. All three are by filmmaker George Csicsery of Zala Films.
