Our Favorite Joyful, Collaborative Math Activities

Sunday April 18, 2021 from 2:00pm - 2:30pm ET

Our universe is messy: its laws are difficult to figure out, its size intimidating... definitely not the best place to learn the Scientific Method. Much better to visit a Mini Mathematical Universe that is designed to reveal its secrets.

In this workshop take a stab at applying the scientific method to a collection of intriguing - and fun - Mini Mathematical Universes.  Each Mini Mathematical Universe is a mathematical creation that, with enough poking around can be figured out. With the creator of these Mini Mathematical Universes, Gord! (Gordon Hamilton) as your guide, get ready to explore, test ideas, make predictions and figure out the laws that govern each one.

Gord! is the founder of MathPickle.com, the designer of the board game Santorini, and now designs puzzling experiences at the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival.

JRMF's mission is to inspire the next generation of problem solvers through joyful, collaborative mathematics.
